A short film, a storyteller's statement, and my 2024 filmmaker’s reel ALL IN ONE. Eucatastrophe is my calling, my purpose; to embrace my earliest inspirations, to embody the philosophy in my work, to create more positive and truthful stories for today's audiences.
In 1944, at the height of the second world war, J.R.R. Tolkien writes — "Tragedy is the true form of drama, its highest function. But its opposite exists. Since we do not possess a word for it, I will call it EUCATASTROPHE."
The "good" catastrophe. Our unraveling before redemption. The light that only comes from darkness. When all seems lost. A joyous turn. A catch of the breath, a beat and lifting of the heart. The ultimate miracle of human fate and happy endings.

Saxapahaw is a former mill town set on the banks of the idyllic Haw River in the rural piedmont region of North Carolina. Originally settled by the Sissapahaw Native American tribe, Saxapahaw is now home to nearly 2,000 residents. ULRS (Ultra Long Range Shooting), is an online course taught by former JTF2 sniper, Jeff Depatie. Never before has a hybrid cinematic-instructional course been offered like this from one of the world's most elite long range shooters; a former Tier-1 Special Forces Operator.
Jeff Depatie retired from JTF2, Canada’s Tier-1 special forces unit in 2018 after 15 years in the Canadian military and multiple combat deployments. JTF2 currently holds the world record for longest confirmed kill shot at 3.54km.

This short film is an ode to the power of story. In it I ask, where were you when you first heard your name? Who told you what was or wasn't possible? I ask this because, odds are, you were far too young to remember, which makes it evermore important to investigate and reevaluate.
While it's deeply important to remember where you come from, it doesn't have to completely define who you are. This is the power of story, our eternal ability to rewrite our ongoing narrative.
rEBIRTH — a lecture on PSYCHOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION
Psychological and spiritual reflections on transformational work. In this six-part lecture series, Rick reflects on the nature of transformational work both as a client and as a practitioner. His aim in this series is not to produce an all-encompassing philosophy on the nature of personal transformation but rather to ask questions and provoke deeper thought about what the process of transformation entails.
Rick has approached this series with a multi-disciplinary approach studying personal transformation from the standpoint of depth psychology, personality structure, mythic traditions, and modern approaches to spirituality.
